Students may receive advice on content and editing, including the use of generative artificial intelligence software to assist with readability, but content and final written text must be their own.”
One system-wide Statement of Application Integrity covers every UC campus, including UCLA and Berkeley. It permits advice on content and editing, names generative AI only as help with readability, and requires the content and final written text to be the student's own. It does not say whether AI may advise on content, and some guides read it as limiting AI to readability. A review that writes none of your text is advice under the statement's terms; if you read UC's line more narrowly, keep AI to readability for your UC answers.
