As of our last check, University of South Carolina publishes no policy specifically addressing applicants' use of AI on application essays. Nothing on its admissions pages either permits or prohibits AI feedback, brainstorming help, or editing tools. The Joseph F. Rice School of Law tells applicants not to use generative AI, but that is J.D. admissions. The undergraduate bulletin's application-integrity section carries no AI language.

Silence is not permission. With no published rule, the Common App's own fraud policy and the school's general integrity expectations still apply: the essay must be the applicant's own work. Getting feedback that leaves you the author is a different act from submitting text you did not write, but where a school has stated nothing, that distinction is yours to make and yours to verify.
